Over the back fence, the property borders onto State Forest. Let’s take a look.

The cliche is (partly) true! Aussies do have kangaroos in the back yard…

…as well as early ’90s album covers!

It looks as though this might once have been a private property, since resumed into state forest. Mysterious Fencepost At Dusk is the name of this installation.

At last, some aircraft noise to soothe those urban withdrawal symptoms.

Water views? We got ‘em.

Pretty sure that’s a sheep. You shoulda seen the other guy.

What I found on the way to Byron Bay

Drove to Byron Bay last weekend and discovered that:

The weather was too crappy to take pictures.
The town of Casino was having a week-long Beef Festival. Hooray for beef!
Byron Bay itself was having a travelling Film Festival. Hooray for travelling films!
In fifteen years since I was last there, Byron Bay turned into Santa Monica. Hmmm.
As a result you can now get (the only) decent Mexican Food (I have found in Australia) at the little stand near the main beach. Hooray for Mexican!

Taken at the granite boulders, standing stones south of Glen Innes, NSW:

In accordance with the Australian National Standard for Literal Place Names, there is a big balancing rock nearby called ‘Balancing Rock’. Also in the region are Deep Creek, Dry Gully and Bald Hill.

This micro-bat flew in and has stayed a couple nights. It is good company except when it flaps around the living room yet manages never to fly out again through the wide-open door.

It likes hats (or possibly CDs).
